World Mental Health Day 2020

Lydbrook Primary School celebrated World Mental Health Day in style this year!

As the theme from Young Minds was 'yellow', we dressed up in our finest yellow clothes and accessories and had a truly memorable day. During the day we learnt about what mental health is, and how important it is to try and keep our brains healthy, as well as our bodies. We took part in many exciting activities, such as making badges and creating wellbeing superheroes.

The theme this year was 'Resilience', and we thought about what helps us to stay positive, and try the best that we can. The Jays learnt that‘Resilience’ means coping with difficult things, bouncing forward from hard times and finding positives from situations.

Some things that make us more resilient can be strengths or feelings which are inside us, like feeling brave or being able to calm down.

Other things that help can be outside, like people who look after us or support us. We can think of them as ‘powers’. They might be
people (a teacher), skills (good at making friends), opportunities (being able to go to after school clubs),  (being able to talk about your feelings) and/or mindsets (feeling positive about the world).

We had a fantastic day and everyone enjoyed learning about mental health.
