Lydbrook Primary School's Wellbeing Ambassadors 2021/ 2022
At Lydbrook School we have five Y6 Wellbeing Ambassadors.
Wellbeing Ambassadors are pupils who have shown a real interest in championing positive mental health and wellbeing. These pupils are keen to share their learning around mental health and advertise the importance of self-care.
The selection process was in October 2021 when the children gave presentations to the rest of the class/ class teacher and the school’s Wellbeing Lead. They completed powerpoints and posters for the task, using Miss Sprawson’s success criteria.
The children and teachers were so impressed with their presentations! They spoke very confidently on the subject of mental health, and gave some excellent ideas on what the school to do to ensure the children were safe and happy. They also demonstrated all the qualities which we were looking for, kindness, empathy, and a caring attitude.
The Ambassadors held their first meeting in November 2021, and the agenda given by Miss Sprawson was discussed. This included reviewing the school’s anti-bullying policy, as well as displaying resources linked to anti-bullying week.
The Ambassadors plan to oversee a weekly ‘Wellbeing club’ starting from January 2022, with the aim of giving children the opportunity to take part in calm and relaxing activities over lunchtimes, as well as provide the opportunity for any children wanting to talk about any worries which they might have.
