Sports Day - 15th July 2022 - Super Powered by the Sun for Fun!

Out of the World Experience for the Children to Learn about our Forest, the Evironement & Climate Change.

On the 15th June one of our Parent Governors in collaboration with Wyldwood Arts and Lydbrook Brass Band brought an amazing learning experience to the whole school.  As you can see in the photographs they erected a large black dome in the hall which once inside it embraced all of the children’s senses in learning.

This gave an unique opportunity where the children could explore the Forest that surrounds us.  How we look after it now and for future generations.  They then went on to explore environments further afield in the world from the heat of the desert to the freezing temperatures of the artic... and far into the galaxy of the stars.

The younger children then looked on to learn more about recycling and how it effects the planet - brought to life through the smells of a stink bomb too!  The older children looked more into how Climate Change impacts on the world.

Honestly it was just such a different experience, the children all came out with such big smiles  – thinking out of the box & into the Dome!

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE INVOLVED!

Rain did not stop play for the Rounders as the Finale of Sports Week!

JIGSAW

At Lydbrook Primary School we have introduced a new and excigint whole school PSHE scheme called JIGSAW.   Jigsaw combines PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education), emotional literacy, mindfullness, social skills and spiritual development.

Jigsaw is designed as a whole school approach, with all the classes (from Robins to Hawks) working on the same theme (Puzzle) at the same time. This enables each Puzzle to start with an introductory assembly and song, generating a whole school focus for adults and children alike.

Jigsaw aims to help children know and value who they really are and how they relate to other people in this ever-changing world.

There are six Puzzles (half-term units of work) each with six Pieces (lessons). Every year each class will study the same Puzzle at the same time (sequentially ordered from September to July), allowing for whole school themes and the end of Puzzle product, for example, a display (in our main corridor) or exhibition (like the Garden of Dreams and Goals) to be shared and celebrated by the whole school. Each class is taught one lesson per week and all lessons are delivered in an age- and stage-appropriate way so that they meet the children’s needs.

The different puzzle pieces are:
