Foresters' Forest

Lydbrook School opens its doors to Forest Heritage.

The school recently held an event for other schools in the area to learn about how we have used the unique and special heritage of the Forest to engage and inspire our pupils as part of the Heritage Lottery Funded Foresters' Forest Landscape Partnership Programme.

Several primary and secondary schools attended the event on 28th September 2017 and heard how the school is the first in the Forest to re-write their curriculum, immersing their pupils in local history so that they become proud of their Forest heritage and will protect and promote it in the future.

Our Headteacher, Mr Lusted said:   "This has been a fantastic opportunity to showcase how successful we have been at re-writing the school curriculum to embrace the wealth of local history we have here in the Forest.   I'm proud of the way the whole school became very involved, taking part in learning activities, and I hope that other schools will now take away our experiences and enthusiasm and become involved in the Foresters' Forest programme".
