It finally happened the butterflies have all emerged from their Chrysalis and I released them  into my garden.

The butterflies landed on some of the plants before they flew away. It was extremely exciting to watch them change from caterpillar to butterfly.

Owls Learning - 18.05.20

Welcome to this week’s learning tasks. These activities have been set in addition to the basic weekly requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 reads aloud to an adult and at least 3 times for a story to be read to the child. This can be real books or books found linked to Active Learn
  • If a child finishes a book, do not worry about the child re-reading it to you as this improves accuracy and fluency.
  • 1 quiz to support grammar/punctuation (Active Learn Year 1)
  • 3 times to practice phonic recognition (Reception/Y1) and see resources set through Active Learn.
  • 3 practices of the maths passport

To ensure that none of the previous maths passport learning does not get lost, we also advise re-visiting previous passports to increase fluency.

  • 3 times on Numbots.

As always if you would like further support to complete the tasks please email me owls@lydbrook.gloucs.sch.uk  To help with this weeks’ tasks read the story Jasper’s Beanstalk. The tasks can be delivered with an adjustment of resources if you do not have something available.

Caterpillar update week 4

It has finally happened, some of the caterpillars crawled their way to the top of the container and formed their chrysalis. Some of the caterpillars were too lazy and stayed on the bottom of the container. I have moved them into the net ready for when they emerge. Will they still be caterpillars?

This week I wanted to congratulate parents on the way you have been supporting your children at home. So many parents are continuing to hear their children read online, complete Numbots and the learning tasks. The photographs I receive bring a big smile to my face! Keep up your hard work.

A special delivery!

This week I had a special delivery.

I ordered some caterpillars so we can watch them through their life cycle. In two days, they have already doubled in size and seem to be very hungry and wriggly!

They must stay in the pots until they form a cocoon (do not worry they have food in the bottom of the pots). I will send some photos every week to let you know how they are growing. There is an extra challenge of a caterpillar diary for those children who would like to do a little something extra. Draw a picture and write a sentence, (with help if needed,) to say what the caterpillars look like in these photographs. You can write a sentence and draw a picture every time I update with photos.
