Parent plan term 5 and 6
Please read through this parent plan. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. Attached you will see an overview of our learning linked to our new topic for the summer term.
Our main class text will be Romans on the Rampage by Jeremy Strong as well as this we will be reading a variety of different information texts linked to Pompeii and the eruption at Mt Vesuvius in 79AD.
Areas of learning not linked to the theme
Fractions and decimals: We will understand what fractions are and how they can be shown in fraction walls. We will also add and subtract fractions.
Measure: We will be measuring and calculating the perimeter of 2D shapes. Linked to perimeter, we will also be learning about area and finding the area of a shape by counting squares.
Shape: We will be identifying and drawing different 2D and 3D shapes, as well as measuring different angles in 2D shapes.
Science: We will be exploring how plants grow and what they need in order to grow. We will be growing our own sunflowers and we will use them to find out where sunflowers grow best.
RE – Key Question: What does it mean to be a Hindu in Britain today?
French – We will be revising greetings; asking and saying our names and ages as well as being able to say numbers to 10.
PE: We will be completing an athletics unit based on the 3 fundamental skills (Running, jumping and throwing) in preparation for sports week.
