Mrs Archibald, Mrs Selwyn-Phillips and I are excited to see you all September and to welcome you all back into school safely.
We believe Year 3 and 4 are important years, as it is the start of your journey into KS2. We have some exciting learning themes coming up and I look forward to sharing them with you when we come back in September.
When you start in September, we will be revisiting the Class Dojos. We will be looking for ways that we can always do our best. In Magpies we feel it is important to always try to make the right choices and we are always looking for ways to improve everything we do.
We would really like to find out more about you, including what you enjoy doing at school and hearing some of your favourite authors. Attached to this letter is an ‘All About Me’ activity. As you will see the adults in Magpies’ Class have filled theirs out, so you can learn all about us too. I will be looking for these to be completed neatly and with care, showing me your best handwriting. You can email it back to me at firstname.lastname@example.org or bring it with you on the first day back in September.
Did you know that the biggest impact you can have on your future success is to read lots? Why not have fun with this year's Summer Reading Challenge? Check out below to find out more.
Please come prepared in September to recommend one of your favourite books (fact or fiction) to your classmates. This might be a book that you read over the summer, or it could be a book that you have already really enjoyed. Please complete the attached Book Review Sheet.
As you have seen in my ‘All About Me’ I love maths! I am hoping to see you using or starting to use TTRockstars to practice your multiplication and division facts over the summer as by the end of year 4 I will be hoping you know all of your times tables. Also below will be more details for those moving from year 2 to 3, to show you how to use TTRockstars at home.
We can not wait to see you in September as we are looking forward to learning with you.
Mr Bowkett, Mrs Archibald and Mrs Selwyn-Phillips

Summer Reading Challenge
This year, Silly Squad, the Summer Reading Challenge 2020, will celebrate funny books, happiness and laughter. Children taking part in the Challenge will join the Silly Squad, an adventurous team of animals who love to have a laugh and get stuck in to all different kinds of funny books!
Click here or search for Summer Reading Challenge 2020 to join.
Times Tables Rockstars is a famtastic way for children to practice their times tables online. Their timetables will be set in accordance to their current maths passport as well as practicing previous times tables.
For example if your child is currently on their Antarctica Passport they will be set their 2, 5 and 10 times tables to support all the times tables they have learnt so far.
Your login is the same for both Numbots and TTRockstars. If you require your login again please feel free to email me and I will get it to you as soon as possible.
