Jays Learning Tasks - 1st June 2020

Plans for Jay’s class for term 6

A new phase of teaching has begun.  As teachers, we are all now back in the classroom to support some of the Reception, Year 1, Year 6, key workers and vulnerable children.  Therefore, the plans and activities we will be providing for you will also change. The basic weekly requirements are still key, and teachers are expected to check which members of their class are completing these.

We have some fun and interesting learning tasks, however these activities have been set in addition to the basic weekly requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 reads with at least 1 tread to an adult. This can be real books or books found linked to Active Learn.
  • 3 “My Maths” tasks (remember that a pass mark of at least 70% needs to be achieved.  If not, the task should be repeated until this mark is achieved). Remember you can use the online lesson to help you if you need. These tasks will be set from Monday to Monday.
  • At least 5 quiz questions (green bugs) for any of the Bug Club books that have been allocated on Active Learn.
  • 1 complete game sequence including answering all of the quiz questions for a grammar or spelling activity that they have been allocated on Active Learn.
  • 3 practices of the maths passport: To ensure that none of the previous maths passport learning does not get lost, we also advise re-visiting previous passports to increase fluency.
  • 3 times on TT Rockstars (‘Studio’ and ‘Sound Check’ record your scores for us to check. Therefore, please make sure you complete activities on either/ both of these so we can see you have completed your 3 times).

Please remember: These requirements take priority and need to be completed each week.  Lots of parents have mentioned writing them down and ticking them off through the week, has helped them keep track of what needs to be done, or splitting them into daily tasks in the form of a timetable.

The plans we have uploaded, to supplement the basic weekly requirements, are a learning journey with questions to stimulate the children’s learning and a few suggested tasks.  They cover the curriculum objectives which we would be teaching in the classroom, therefore it would beneficial to your child’s learning to complete them. You should be able to find plenty of activities that can be matched to the amount of time/resources you have in a day.

Feel free to still email us with questions, or to share things your child has enjoyed or is proud of.  However due to the fact that we are back in school teaching, we may not be able to reply as promptly as we have in the past.

Best wishes

Mrs Fellows and Miss Sprawson
